What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s new aged care program designed to help older Australians remain living safely and independently in their own homes for longer. Introduced on 1 November 2025, the program replaced the former Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme as part of the broader aged care reforms under the new Aged Care Act 2024

Support at Home provides tailored in-home services based on an individual’s assessed needs, including personal care, domestic assistance, nursing care, allied health, assistive technology, home modifications, social support, and restorative care services. The program aims to create a more flexible, equitable, and person-focused aged care system that supports wellbeing, independence, and community connection.

As providers operating within the Support at Home framework, we are responsible for delivering high-quality, respectful, and safe care in accordance with the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and regulatory requirements overseen by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. This includes protecting the rights and dignity of older Australians, maintaining transparency and accountability in service delivery, ensuring workforce suitability and ongoing training, and delivering care that is tailored to each person’s goals, preferences, and cultural needs. At First Caring Australia, we are committed to providing reliable and compassionate home care services that support ageing with dignity, independence, and choice.
